This is a hands-on position designed for an attorney looking to quickly develop practical, well-rounded skills in a collaborative, supportive, and "Technodexterous" environment.

Key Responsibilities
Transactional & General Counsel Support
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Draft, review, and negotiate various business agreements, including vendor contracts, software agreements (SaaS), non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), finance agreements, and operating agreements.
  • Entity Formation & Structuring: Guide clients through the formation of new businesses (LLCs, Corporations) and draft related organizational documents.
  • General Counsel Advice: Assist senior attorneys in providing practical general counsel advice to small businesses and auto dealerships on daily operational, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
  • Discovery Management: Execute document review related to litigation matters, including identifying, reviewing, and organizing relevant documents for production and privilege logs.
  • Docket Management: Handle a targeted docket of small claims and non-contested collections actions for business clients.
  • Pleadings & Court Filings: Draft and file initial pleadings, appearances, and motions in state court for assigned matters.
  • Settlement & Negotiation: Facilitate pre-suit negotiations and settlement agreements to resolve client disputes efficiently.
  • Technology Utilization: Embrace and utilize the firm’s legal technology and digital filing systems to ensure efficient and modern service delivery.
  • Research: Research key issues and identify relevant statutes, case law, and regulations using traditional and AI legal databases.
  • Client Management: Manage client relationships, communicate complex legal concepts in plain language, and maintain the firm’s commitment to transparent, client-centered service.
Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio or Minnesota with eligibility to be admitted to the Ohio Bar promptly (licensure in MI, PA, or NE is a plus).
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • Prior Legal Experience: Candidates must have completed at a minimum one internship, externship, or clinical placement at a business law firm, litigation firm, or relevant non-profit organization.
  • A genuine commitment to the firm’s values of inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration.
The Ideal Candidate: Business Acumen & Resilience

We are seeking candidates who bring a unique, non-traditional perspective and possess a high degree of business acumen and resilience gained outside of the typical legal track.

  • Retail Sales: Shows a natural aptitude for client service, relationship building, and understanding transactional dynamics.
  • Food and Beverage Industry: Highlights an ability to multitask, manage logistics, and handle high-volume, fast-paced customer interactions with grace.

These backgrounds often cultivate the essential "No Bullshit" communication style and practical, results-oriented mindset that our clients value in both negotiation and litigation.

Why Work at ALH Law Group?

  • Values: Our values—Technodexterous, No Bullshit, Get Outside, and Thank You For Being a Friend—are foundational to how we work and how we treat each other.
